2、notonlylearnknowledgebutalsogetaneducation.Yet,noonecanlearneverythingatschool.Thescientists,suchasEdison,Newton,GalileoandEinstein,didnotlearneverythingatschool.Theylearnedalotofknowledgeoutsideschool orpracticebythemselves.Ateacher,evenheknowsalot,cantteachhisstudentseverything.Ourjobistoshowourst
3、udentshowtolearn,howtoreadandhowtothink.Agoodteacherwithrichexperienceinteachingcanteachhisstudentsthemethodsofstudy.Throughthesemethodsthestudentsareabletolearnandgetalotofthingsbythemselves.SinceIbecameanEnglishteacherovertenyearsago,Ihavehadadefiniteteachingthought:IteachmystudentsnotonlyEnglishw
4、ordsandgrammarbutalsomethodsofstudyingEnglishbymakingfulluseofteachingmaterialssoastoenablethemtodevelopgoodstudyinghabitsbitbybit.Then,whataregoodstudyinghabitsofstudents?Inmyopinion,theyshouldincludethefollowingatleast:thehabitofpreviewingactivelybeforeclass;thehabitoflisteningintensivelyinclass;t
5、hehabitofreviewingcarefullyafterclass;thehabitofcompletinghomeworkindependently;thehabitofthinkingdeeplyandactively;thehabitofmakingnotesduringreadingoutofclass;andgoodhabitsofreadingaloud,memorizing,reciting,etc.ThosehabitsshouldcontributetoassimilatingEnglishknowledgetheyhavelearnedintotheirownone
6、s,andpromotingtheirabilitiesoflistening,speaking,reading,andwritingallround.So,asEnglishteachers,wemustbegoodatcultivatinggoodstudyinginterestofstudents,enablethemtodevelopgoodstudyinghabitsandmakeEnglishstudyingcontinuefortheirlife.Thefirstishowtopreviewbeforeclass.Icallformystudentstopreviewwellbe
7、foreclasswhichwillbelearnednextclass.Fornewwordsandphrasesintext,studentsshouldnotonlypracticespellingbutalsounderstandtheirmeaningsaccordingtosentencesandcontext.Fortextsanddialogues,studentsmayunderstandthemthroughtheuseofnotes,referencebooks or dictionariesathand,searchingtopicparagraphor sentenc
8、e,thentrydoingexercisesafterclass.Ofallthesecanhelpthemtofindproblems or questionsaswellasmasterthepointsthatareimportantanddifficultintext,whichmightlightenthepressureofstudentsinnewclasses.Thisisakindofgoodstudyinghabitandofmethodavailableoftrainingtheabilitytoteachthemselves.Weshouldcallforourstu
9、dentstolastforpracticinginaconsistentway.Indoingso,goodstudyinghabitscanbedevelopedultimately.Thesecondishowtolistentoclass.Teachersshouldmakestudentsdevelopgoodhabitsofconcentratingonlisteningtoclassandquestioningactivelyinclass.Onlyiflisteningtoclassinearnest,canstudentssettlequestionsfoundwhenthe

11、“Toquestknowledgeedgedemandslearningandquestioning;tolearntheanswerisnotthesubstanceofknowledge.”Sowecansee,itisimportanttoquestionactivelyandraisedoubtsboldlyforstudying.Thisislikesunshineandraintothetrees,littletreescannotgrowintobigoneswithoutthem.Therefore,whetherinclass or afterclass,weshouldac
