They are seeds of coffee cherries that grow on trees in over

2、70 countries. Green unroasted coffee is one of the most traded agricultural commodities in the world. Due to its caffeine content, coffee can have a stimulating effect in humans. Today, coffee is one of the most popular beverages worldwide.,The history of coffee is as rich as the brew itself, dating

3、 back more than a thousand years. The first coffee plants are said to have come from the Horn of Africa on the shores of the Red Sea. Originally, coffee beans were taken as a food and not as a beverage. East African tribes would grind the coffee cherries together, mixing the results into a paste wit

4、h animal fat. Rolled into little balls, the mixture was said to give warriors much-needed energy for battle.,Later, around the year 1000 AD, Ethiopians concocted a type of wine from coffee berries, fermenting the dried beans in water. Coffee also grew naturally on the Arabian Peninsula, and it was t

5、here, during the 11th century that coffee was first developed into a hot drink.,Bluemountain,Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee is a classification of coffee grown in the Blue Mountains of Jamaica. The best lots of Blue Mountain coffee are noted for their mild flavour and lack of bitterness.,Bluemountain,

8、ranted by the European Union (September 2007) that applies to the coffee produced in Colombia .,Colombian Coffee,The Colombian coffee has been recognized worldwide as having high quality and distinctive taste. The main importers of Colombian coffee are United States, Germany, Japan, The Netherlands

9、and Switzerland.,cappuccino,A cappuccino is an Italian coffee drink prepared with espresso, hot milk, and steamed-milk foam. The name cappuccino comes from the Capuchin friars, possibly referring to the colour of their habits or to the aspect of their tonsured (white) heads, surrounded by a ring of

10、brown hair.,A cappuccino is traditionally served in a porcelain(瓷质的) cup, which has far better heat-retention characteristics than glass or paper. The foam(泡沫) on top of the cappuccino acts as an insulator and helps retain the heat of the liquid, allowing it to stay hot longer. The foam may optional

11、ly have powder (commonly cocoa, cinnamon(肉桂色的) or nutmeg) sprinkled on top.,Coffee and health,With over 400 billion cups being slurped up each year, there have been countless studies on coffee and how it effects our health. What should we believe?,Coffee is notable for its caffeine content. So lets

12、take a look at caffeine.Caffeine is an alkaloid(生物碱). Alkaloids are found in cola nuts, coffee, tea, cacao beans, mate (the Argentinian tea) and other plants.,Caffeine essentially stimulates the central nervous system, cardiac muscle, and respiratory system increasing intellectual activities and lea

13、rning ability. For the average, healthy person, however, 3 - 4 cups of coffee/day is not too much (of course depending on how “charged” those cups are).,Caffeines effect on people differs with each individual. Some people are quite sensitive to caffeine and have to reduce intake to a minimum while others ingest it in copious (丰富的) amounts. There has been absolutely no conclusive(确定的) evidence to show that caffeine consumed in moderation is a health risk or associated with chronic health problems(慢性病). Again, each individuals reaction to caffeine differs.,Thank you,
