Deciding that Maria needs to learn something about the real world, the Mother Superior sends her off to be governess for the children of the widowed(鳏居的) Captain Von Trapp. Arriving at the Trapp home, Maria discovers that her new boss is cold and aloof(冷
4、漠的), and his seven children virtual automatons, at least, whenever the Captain is around. But Maria soon ingratiates(迎合) herself with the children, especially oldest daughter Liesl who is in love with teenagedmessenger boy Rolf. As Maria herself begins to fall in love with the Captain, she rushes ba
5、ck to the Abbey(修道院) so as not to complicate his impending(即将来临的) marriage to a glamorous(迷人的) baroness (女性男爵). But the children insist that Maria return, the Baroness steps out of the picture, and Maria and the Captain confirm their love in the song “Something Good.“ Unhappily, they return home fro
