4、调式。以上、下两乐句组成的一段式为主要结构，体现为 A+B 模式，有的歌手为了强调所要表达的思想，还把下句重复一遍（即重尾） 。西和山歌通常在句间加衬腔，使乐段的主体部分与尾声紧密相连，浑然一体。西和山歌节奏徐缓、平稳、单一，速度较慢，一般以 24拍居多，44 拍其次。歌者以“哎”起音，以起音上行至五度音调而后八度大跳形成富有特色的拖腔。旋律中有前倚音、后倚音、后滑音、颤音等装饰音，使歌曲婉转、优美，富有特点。 西和山歌的歌词以较为对称的二句式为主，并加有衬字、衬词、衬句。在押韵的方式上有一韵到底和中途换韵两种形式， 大量地运用了赋、 比、 兴、 夸张等修辞手法，使西和山歌具有了浓郁的浪漫主义
5、气息。 西和方言属于中原官话区，音系比较简单，声母 29 个，韵母 32 个，声调 4 个。当地人通常将 zh、sh、ch 与 z、s、c 等声母不分，n 与 l 不分，前后鼻韵母不分，把去声型读成平调型，声调中有连续变调的情况。这些语言上的差异影响、制约着西和山歌的形成和发展。 西和山歌一般用满口腔和平音等方法演唱。有经验的歌者力求以字带声，把咬准字头、吐圆字腹、收清字尾作为歌唱标准，以求字正腔圆。 西和山歌和其它地区的民歌一样，面临着日趋衰微的生存局面。所幸的是各级政府开始关注当地的音乐传统文化，各界人士、学者也纷纷把眼光投向了这些原生态民歌。只有发动全社会力量，全面搜集有关山歌方面的资料

In the long history of its development, it has undergone various changes and now there are abundant themes and co
7、ntents in it. Since very old times, labor, politics, common sense, love between man and women, religious ceremony, history, games, astronomical and geographical matters etc. become its subject. It can be divided into three types: herding songs, field songs and general songs. Every time people go out
8、 from the house, can they sing these songs in valleys, fields, roads and the like. Five- tone Yu with Shang Tone and Six- tone Yu with Shang Tone are commonly applied in it. Every stanza consists of two parts, for example part A and B, sometimes the singer will repeat the second part in order to emp
9、hasize his emotion (that is, the repeating ending). Xihe folk song is often put sub- tone- pattern, which makes the body part and ending closely linked and integrated. Its rhythm are soft, level and monotonous and its speed is slow, and generally speaking, the 2/4 beat prevails and then 4/4 beat. Si
10、ngers often starts with “hey” and raise the tone to 5, then 8 with skip, thus producing a very special protracting tone- pattern. Plenty of grace notes such as before Jiyin，after Jiyin，after portamento，tremolo, make the song euphemistical and fair- sounding. Major part of lyrics in Xihe folk songs c
11、onsists of symmetrical two- sentence structure with decorative characters, phrases and sentences. There two types of rhyme in it: one is a fixed rhyme throughout the whole song and the other is a fixed rhyme with a changed rhyme throughout the whole song.
