All actuator sizes shown on the following pages have been calculated based on the following criteria :-1) A minimum pilot air supply pressure to the actuator of 5.5 Bar g 2) The medium being Water at a pressure of 10 Bar g and a temperature of 20OC.In the event that your application differs fro
6、m the above, then it may be necessary to fit a larger actuator to operate the valve. The following is intended as a guide to assist with actuator selection. 7、uestion 1 - Double Acting or Spring Return actuator ?A Double Acting actuator will require two air supplies, 1 to drive the actuator / valve to the closed position and 1 to return it to the open position. This type is known as Fail Fixed because if the air supply is lost, the actuator will stop at t
8、he position reached prior to the loss of air.A Spring Return actuator only requires 1 air supply which is normally used to drive the actuator / valve to the Open position. When the air supply is lost the springs inside the actuator drive it / the valve in to the Closed position. This is known as Air
9、 Fail Closed / Normally Closed. For Air Fail Open / Normally Open actuator the air supply is used to drive the actuator / valve to the closed position with the springs driving it Open on loss of air. Please confirm the required Fail position.Question 2 - Confirm minimum pilot air pressure available
10、for the actuator ?This is very important. A pneumatic actuator produces less torque the lower the pilot air supply and hence a larger actuator may be required to operated the valve. All Valbia actuators are suitable for a maximum pilot air supply pressure of 8 Bar g.Question 3 What is the Medium, Wo
11、rking Pressure and Working temperature ?This is needed to ensure correct sizing of the actuator. As mentioned above all actuators shown on the following pages have been sized based on the medium being Water at a pressure of 10 Bar g and a temperature of 20OC. If the medium is at a high pressure, is
12、viscose (tar / treacle like), is in powder form (cement etc) or a is a dry gas (usually a hot gas) then the actuator will have to be sized accordingly. This is because any of the above will lead to an increase in the valve torque figure meaning that a larger actuator will invariably be required to o
13、perate the valve. High Temperature applications may require that the valve be fitted with seats of a special material which is suitable for the working temperature. This will also usually cause an increase in the valve torque figure meaning that a larger actuator may be required to operate the valve
14、. Also, on high temperature applications it may be necessary to fit a non standard extended valve to actuator mounting bracket. This is required to raise the actuator above the heat source to prevent any damage to the actuator seals. The mounting bracket height will be calculated based on the workin
