1、Sermon title DONT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW Bible passage Matthew 6:25-34 Purpose At any given moment, we live under the grace of God. The God who creates, maintains, and manages everything in this universe. Therefore, as children of God, we should cast away our worries about tomorrows uncertainty. We sh

2、ould appreciate the Lords provisions and loving care with confidence, trust, and thanksgivings. Gods plan is to have His children live joyfully in His love. Introduction David worries about a lot of things. All of his friends know that he is a ”worrier”. One day, he saw his friend Henry. “Hi, Henry,

3、 Ill tell you a secret. I have not worried about anything for five days!” David cant wait to share with his friends about his newly found happiness. “What? I cant believe it!” Henry was very surprised that David “the worrier” has changed suddenly.“I have hired someone to do the worrying” David told

4、Henry. He couldnt hide the joy in his heart. “Hired someone to worry for you?” Henry could not believe what he heard from David. “Yes!” David nodded, “ I have hired someone to do the worrying.” “How much do you have to pay for that?” Henry asked. David paused for a while, as if he was performing som

5、e calculations in his mind. Then slowly, he said in a deep voice, “One thousand dollars a week ” “Wow, how could you afford that?” All of a sudden, the dark cloud returned to Davids head. He started to worry again. What about you? What are you worrying about? Do you know that:40% of our worries will

6、 never happen 30% of our worries is about the past 12% of our worries is about concerns of our health 10% of our worries is about small and insignificant matters Only 8% of our worries can be categorized as reasonable concernMy question is, knowing these statistics now, are you still worrying? Jesus

7、 tell us how we can overcome our worry. Lets read together, Matt. 6:25-34. “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the

8、 air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet

9、 I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, What shall we eat? or Wh

10、at shall we drink? or What shall we wear? For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry

11、about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. I have two main points to share with you today,1. Jesus tells us not to worry (because.)2. We live under the grace of God moment by momentMessage Outline A. Jesus tells us not to worryThe first main point is “Jesus tells us not to worry.”Life is

12、full of worries worries about food, clothing, career, income, mortgage, education, children, relationship, illness, etc. Worry is not limited to elderly people, but it is also common in adults, youths, and even children. Jesus clearly understands our daily needs. He realizes that we have many choice

13、s and decisions to make, many bills to pay, etc. In Matt 6:32 Jesus told us “ and your heavenly Father knows that you need them” Not only does He cares for us, He also cares for the birds of air and the lilies of the field. He would never neglect their needs.This passage came from Jesus Sermon on th

14、e Mount after the passage about wealth in Matthew 6:19. What Jesus emphasized here is that if we are overly concerned about earthly matters, we will produce more worries for ourselves. What he does not want is for us to worry and then fear, because it will take away the joy in our lives. What is “wo

15、rry”? In Greek, the verb “worry” appears as (merimnan). Its corresponding noun is (merimna) . In an ancient letter, a wife wrote to her husband on the road, “I cannot fall asleep day or night, because of my worry (merimna) about your safety”. A mother heard about the latest update on the health cond

16、ition of her son and replied “This is exactly my prayer and my worry (merimna).” A poet named Anacreon wrote, “When I am drinking, my worry (merimna) went to sleep”. In Greek, this word merimna means worry, restlessness, and concern.The outcome of worryingWorrying all the time is worse than being incapable, because it creates a lot of stress and damage to oneself.
