Idioms take a prominent position in the sword language and culture, without idioms, our language would lack color and interesting. As a English major students, we should apply English correctly
3、, fluently and appropriately in cross- cultural communication. However, due to lack of knowledge of cultural differences, many college students fail to achieve this purpose during the actual communicating activities. It is necessary for us to study the cultural differences in some fields between Chi
4、nese and Western countries. Idioms, which reflect customs, are the essence of culture in every country. So i will discuss the idioms reflecting the differences of English and Chinese cultures in four levels: difference of customs , difference of region, difference of system culture, and difference o

English and Chinese are both rich in idioms.However, owing to different cultural factors, the cultural messages embodied in their respec
13、tive idioms naturally display substantial differences as well as similarities. Idioms,which reflect customs,are the essence of culture in every country. Different people from different cultures may have different understanding of the same sentence because they are ignorant of target cultures. Both C
