1、A Comparative Study on Education Ways between China and the USAIntroduction:According to the U.S. open report, in 2011, the number of Chinese students who go to the United States for further study is about 157,000.Although in 2010, the number had already accounted for 45% of the total number of Chin

2、ese abroad, its quite obvious that the percentage will keep rising in the future. Thus, the number of those who take an examination of TOEFL and IELTS keeps double-digit growth. Meanwhile, the SAT-“the United States university entrance exam“ also becomes popular among the mainland middle school stud

3、ents. Why does it happen? Is it because that Chinas education way is worse than the Americas? Than, what is the difference between the Americas education and the Chinas? With these questions, I did this comparative study on the education way between China and USA. By weighing up the pros and cons, w

4、e can have a better understanding on ways of improving our education. This paper consists of the following parts: (1)Body:A) Similarities: In fact, according to an American schoolmaster, if by comparison, the similarities of two countries education care far more than differences. For example, both c

5、ountries highlight the education, especially University education, and both countries parents send their children to college for the first day in the university personally. Both countries universities give scholarships and financial aid to help those who cannot afford the high tuition costs, while s

6、tudents with less academic goals may enroll in vocational schools. Both countries youngsters can enter first grade at around six years of age, and children can prepare for this step by attending preschool and kindergarten from ages three to five. Both countries pupils have homework every day. Both c

7、ountries schools have strict rules, and if students violates, they will be warned first, and if they make the same mistake again, they will be order to quit school. Both countries system of education is far from perfect. However, there still exists many differences between two countries. (2,3)B) Dif

8、ferences:1) the concept of the school class The first difference of American schools and Chinese schools is the concept of the school class. In China, teachers go to different classrooms to give a class, and return to an office to take a ten-minute recess, while every American teacher just has class

9、 in one classroom. They are motionless between classes. On the contrary, students are always in the dynamic “guerrilla warfare“, from a classroom change to another classroom during the ten-minute recess. (4,11)2) curriculum schedule In China, subjects of each grade are all the same, and each classro

10、om has a unified schedule of a semester or a year on the wall, but American middle and high school students each has their own curriculum schedule, and it is completely incredible for the same grade students to have unified courses there. The education in the USA is personalized, considering differe

11、nt students different interests and needs. Therefore a high school student will tell that he/she has no fixed classmates (similar to China from morning till evening sitting in a classroom) .(3,11)3)the choice of university major In China, students in the university must choose a major to learn befor

12、e entering into a college, and only in the sophomore year do they have a chance to change their major. However, American college students choose major freely, and they can easily change it during the period of school. But maybe because this is too free, many students dont know what they want to lear

13、n. Generally, schools will arrange staffs to help students to make a decision. Although there are always a few students being hesitated, that is no problem, because schools allow students to put themselves as “no professional“. They can have the first choice of several favorite classes and make the

14、final choice then. (6,12)4) the classroom discipline The classroom discipline is also quite different between the two countries. In China, students are strictly required to behave themselves in class. But classroom discipline of public schools in the USA is very messy. Most of the students do the th

15、ings they like in the classroom, talk with classmates, play games, do not listen to the teacher carefully, and many students even dont complete the homework. Most of the time, teachers do not care it much, they just blow a whistle to control the classroom discipline. Thus, when class is up, many stu

16、dents get nothing. But the teachers seem to have got accustomed to their being noisy, and just shout about their names. Sometimes, some American teachers will also punish students who break the discipline. For example, they can ask students to do extra work or to have a individual warning talk with the teacher after school. If the situation is very serious, they can require students to go back home for an introspection until they realize their mistakes so far. But they can nev
