5、者干脆文不对题，意 义全非。怎么来解决呢？这就是今天我们要共同学习的内容：恰当的运 用词类转换。例如：英语句子 They returned game and glee. 如果逐词对译， 就是：他们回来玩乐和高兴。这样译出来的话很不通顺，也不符合汉语 表达方式。怎样翻译才能通顺呢？如果我们把 game and glee 这两个名词 转换为汉语的副词：“兴高采烈地” 。这个句子译为：他们兴高采烈地回 来了。这样就符合汉语表达方式。像这样的词类转换是我们在翻译中经 常运用的技巧。今天我们分几类来讲它的转换。Step Presentation 讲授新课讲授新课 To introduce Convers
6、ion 【讲解,提问并回答】 A.Noun Conversion a. Noun Verb 1. Out of sight. Out of mind. 眼不见，心不念。 2. The sight and sound of our jet planes filled me with special longing。看到我们的喷气式飞机，听到隆隆的机声，令我特别神往。 b. Noun Adverb1. We must serve thee people hear and soul. 2. The attendants waited on them hand and foot. 十分周到的、殷勤的
7、c. Noun Adjective1. The music is a gas. 这音乐（美）妙极了。 2. Dont make any decisions in the heat of anger.(生气和热相联，不进行转换就译不通。把 heat 转译为“非常 的，盛怒的”就译通了。即：不要在盛怒之下做出任何决定。 )小结：从以上的例子来看，适当地运用名词转换的方法，句子就会译得 通顺自然。希望大家在翻译中能够借鉴。 B.Adverb Conversion a. Adverb Verb 1. The oil in the tank is up. 15 45（up 原义为往上，显然译不通，如果知
8、道 up 与动词连用，表示 “光、完” 。那么译为：油箱里的油用完了。这里就用了 Adverb Verb 的方法） 2. The librarian told me that the book was out. (借出去了) b. Adverb Adjective 1. The talk impressed him deeply.（深刻的） 2. The president had prepared meticulously for his journey.（十分周密 的） c. Adverb NounHe is physically weak but mentally sound.(他虽然身
9、体很弱，但思想健康) 小结：从以上的例子来看，只有恰当地运用副词转换的方法，译起来 才能通顺自然。以上几点是我们采用的副词转换，下面来看介词 的转换。 C.Preposition Conversion a. Prep. Verb 英语中有大量介词，在许多情况下都含有动作的意思，汉译时 就要译成动词。 1. This is a picture after Picasso. 那是一张模仿（仿照/依照）毕加索的画2. “Coming！”Away she skimmed over the lawn， up the path， up the steps， across the veranda， and
10、into the porch “来啦！”她转身蹦着跳着地跑了，越过草地，跑上小径， 跨过台阶，穿过凉台，进入门廊。 （此句利用介词转换的方法，我们把 over ，up， up，across，into 与紧接其后的名词一起，译成相对应的动词 越过，跑上，跨过，穿过，进入。这样译出来的句子既精彩 有恰如其分。 ）D. Adjective Conversion a.AdjectiveVerb 1.The program was not popular with all of the troops.(喜欢) 部队并不是所有的人都喜欢这个计划。 2.I am anxious to learn anoth
11、er foreign language.（渴望） b.AdjectiveNoun 1. The electrical appliances made in China are competitive in the world market.中国制造的电器产品在国际市场上很有竞争力。 2. Tom is courageous, ambitious, but unintelligent. 有勇气，有雄心，但不怎么聪明。 c.AdjectiveAdverb 1.Special care should be taken when handling flammable materials. 使用易燃材料
12、要格外小心。2. He is a complete fool. 他简直就是个傻子。 E. Verb Conversiona.Verb Noun 大量动词可以转化为名词，有时意思没有太大变化，有时意思有 一定的变化： 1. The murder was motivated by deep hatred. 杀人的动机是刻骨仇恨。 2. This was a decisive move. 这是一个决定性的步骤。 b.Verb Adjective 1 Let me see if it fits. 让我瞧瞧它是否合适。 2 The rotten meat stinks.腐肉很臭。 F. Pronoun
13、Conversion 翻译实践中常常要求对原文的代词根据语境、搭配或问文体的需要 进行删除或转译，即译为其他的代词或名词。 1. She never used large words, yet when her pity or indignation was stirred she was the most eloquent person I have never heard. 母亲说话从不用大字眼，但是一旦激发了她的同情心和义愤， 她可是我听到过的最有口才的人。 2.Youll find us caring, practical, comfortable, not fancy. 一旦入住本店
14、，你就会发现本店服务体贴周到， 经营经验丰富， 环境舒适宜人，收费合理。 G. Demonstrative Conversion 指示代词 that , those 有承上的作用，而 this , these 有启下的功能。 1.Thats the end of the program. 到此为止。 2.My idea is this. 我的想法是这样的。我的想法是这样的。 3.For these reasons weve decided to cancel the trip.我们决定取消这次旅 行，理由如下。 4.Is this the bus we want? - Yes, thats i
15、t. 没错。 5.Those are the problems we want to solve.这就是我们想解决的一些问 题。 H. Other Conversions a. 有一些词可以词形不变用作另一词类，但重音发生变化。较常见的是 一些双音节词，作动词时重音在后，作名词时重音在前：动词名词accent/ksent/ 重读/ksent/ 重音combine/kmbain/ 合并/k0mbain/ 康拜因compress/kmpres/ 压紧/k0mpres/ 止血垫布conduct/kndct/ 指挥，导电/kndct/ 行为conflict /knflikt/ 冲突/k0nflikt/
16、 冲突contest/kntest/ 争夺，竞争/k0ntest/ 比赛contrast/kntrst/ 形成对比/k0ntrst/ 对比convict/knvikt/ 定罪/k0nvikt/ 囚犯digest/daidest/ 消化/daidest/ 摘要，文摘discount/diskaunt/ 打折扣/diskaunt/ 折扣escort/isk0:t/ 护送/esk0:t/ 护送人export/eksp0:t/ 输出，出口/eksp0:t/ 出口extract/ikstrkt/ 提取/ekstrkt/ 提取物ferment/f:ment/ 发酵/f:ment/ 酵素import/imp
