People are living in a much faster society now they do not have time to slowly enjoy their food while chatting, especially

2、 during lunchtime, which leads to the rapid growth of fast food industry. Modern fast-food industry originated in the 1920s in the United States, and in the 1960s, American fast food began to expand to Eurasian starting a whirlwind of fast food industry in the world. (1). The Development of Chinese

3、Fast Food IndustryModern Chinese fast food started late, until 1994, our country listed the development of Chinese fast food into the Eighth Five-year Plan, clarifying the status of fast food industry. In the early 1990s, by the initiation and support of the former domestic trade department, on Dece

4、mber 28, 1989 the first modern Chinese fast foodShanghai “Ronghua Chicken“ was the first time in front of everybody. On April 15, 1995 the first Red Sorghum Fast Food opened in Henan. By the end of 1996, Red Sorghum has been covered in Beijing, Zhengzhou, Shijiazhuang, Haikou and other places. Enter

5、ing the 21st century, China has emerged a large number of great modern Chinese fast food enterprises. Malan Noodles, in the report of 2000 China top 100 chain enterprises, has been short- listed by the total sales of 360 million Yuan. Chosen by experts, Malan Noodles was identified as the first bran

6、d of Chinese fast food. In addition, China has many of her own traditional fast food dishes. Of these, steamed buns, dumplings, fried bread sticks, and noodles are the most common and popular, with big-name chains like New Asia Snack, Yonghe King, Daniang Dumpling, GII Wonton, and Babi Steamed Buns.

7、 With local players still trying to compete with the likes of KFC, McDonalds and Pizza Hut, competition is fierce. In Shanghai, other than the expected McDonalds and KFC, you will find a large number of these Chinese fast food chains, which at a glance, may look like classic western fast food chain

8、stores, but they are actually traditional Chinese snack restaurants with a very western look. Nevertheless, Chinese fast food grew rapidly in quantity, but not much well-known brands. Chinese fast food providing with traditional Chinese fast food, in line with the majority of peoples eating habits,

9、has the home advantage. It should have taken hold, but it was not. In terms of both turnover and influence, Chinese fast food is far behind McDonalds and KFC such Western fast food. (2). The Development of west fast food industry(KFC and McDonalds in China)KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) opened its fir

10、st restaurant in Beijing on November 12, 1987, and it was the first to introduce western-style food to China. By this starting point, KFC started exploring, learning Chinese society and market, to build a management style with Chinese characteristics. In1992 the total of the restaurants was 10; to 1

11、995, up to 71. On June 25, 1996 Chinas 100th KFC set up in Beijing. As the company gradually rich experience in management, the workforce has expanded steadily and operating system is becoming more perfect, the growth rate of KFC in the beginning of the 21st century has been accelerated greatly. So

12、far, KFC has been opened more than 1,000 restaurants in more than 200 cities, leading in catering industry in China. On October 8, 1990, the first McDonalds restaurant opened in Shenzhen, China. Then in April 1992, the worlds largest McDonalds restaurant was opened in Beijings Wangfujing with over 1

13、0,000 customers there. By the first quarter of 2002, there were more than 460 restaurants7 opened in China. After 14 years into China market, as at the end of 2004, the total number of chain stores reached 600. While its initial development in China was fast, it slowed down later. In the recent thre

14、e years of 2002-2004, the average annual number of new openings was only 47.5 with the annual growth rate of about 25 percent, lower than initial 38 percent annual growth rate.3 Our Groups Thought (1) Chinese fast food is good It is well-known that the Chinese fast food has a long history. It is no doubt that the Chinese fast food is so meaningful and healthy as well. Generally speaking, Chinese fast food is divided into 8 categories whic

16、h are quite different from each other. Each category has its certain specialties which give people different taste. But no matter what category the food belongs to, it should have 4 characters. They are color, flavor, taste and shape. According to these, the food will be judged as good or bad.
