1、The main purpose of this oral English week is to get the students use English to be able to communicate and discuss both in class and in the real world, and give them guidance to help them speak better English. Day 18:30 - 10:00 Ice Breaking: the purpose of this is to create a chance for us to know

2、each other better, and to create a relaxing class environment so that the students can feel comfortable using English in class. Ill introduce myself and have the students introduce themselves. Then ask them questions like “what do you want to do after you graduate?”, and they can ask me questions to

3、o. If theres enough time we can discuss current issues that most of them are interested in. Also, Ill tell them plans for the week.10:30 - 12:00 Pronunciation and Daily Conversation: Pronunciation will affect how well you can speak and use the language, so it is necessary to point out serious and co

4、mmon mistakes we usually make when we speak English. Its very sad that a lot of us cant handle a simple daily conversation with a foreigner after ten years of English learning. Itll be fairly simple daily conversation, but many students might not know. For example: everyone knows “how are you?”, but

5、 lots of us dont know “how are you doing?” or “how did it go?”2:30 - 4:00 Discussion and Preparation: Discuss how to practice English, share some of my experience with the students. Brainstorming questions that they want to ask the GM of Hong De Hotel who will come the next day.Day 28:30 - 10:00 A U

6、p Close Discussion With the GM of Hong De Hotel: A lot of college students dont know what they want to do and what they can do, so it is helpful for them to communicate with an experienced employer. They will feel more motivated when they know what they want and what they can do after some hard work

The discussion will mainly be about what employers are looking for in an interview, what qualities you need to be a good employee 10:30 - 12:00 Universities in America: An experienced American teacher will be invited to the class. He will be talking about American universities and education; cu

8、lture will be a part of his lecture too. Ask the lecturer questions and discuss what we need to go abroad.2:30 - 4:00 Seminar and Homework: Review and hold a seminar on employment. At the end of the class, I will give them homework, to prepare a 3-minute speech on their future plan. 10 to 15 random

9、students will be picked to give their speech on Thursday. They are required to memorize the speech.Day 38:30 - 10:00 The Differences Between American English and British English I will do a brief introduction of the differences between American English and British English. Its very important for Eng

10、lish learners to understand different accents, and American English and British English are most widely heard English accents. After the introduction, I will give the students some internet resources I know that they can use to practice their English. 10:30 - 12:00 Life in England A British teacher

11、will be invited to the class to give a speech about English culture. The speech will last for about 40 minutes, and then students will ask questions. At the beginning of the class the British teacher and I will demonstrate a few differences between American English and British English we talked abou

12、t in the morning. 2:30 - 4:00 Review and a Tongue Twister Competition Reviewed what we talked about in the morning and hold a tongue twister competition.Day 48:30 - 10:00 Skills They Need to Develop in School as a Business English Major Student When the students graduate, they are going to compete w

13、ith others in order to get a decent job. Your expertise will give you advantages when competing with others. As business English students, you need to develop certain skills that are unique to your major. Those skills include: communicate with people in English in an office environment, write busine

14、ss correspondents, and have a basic understanding of how companies are run. I will also introduce a few tests they can take to get the qualification they need. 10:30 - 12:00 Life in England 10 15 random students will be picked to give their prepared speeches. After each speech, a few questions will be asked by the students and me. 2:30 - 4:00 Review and a Tongue Twister Competition Discuss and summarize what we have talked about this week, I will wrap up the week by sharing my personal experience on how to learn English and setting up goals for their lives.
