7、mobilized cells and genetically engineered cells. The fundamentals of aerobic and anaerobic processes are discussed briefly and the applications of various bioreactor configurations are emphasized. Also discussed are lagoon systems ranging from fully anaerobic to fully aerated. Two broad types of im

8、mobilized cell systems are described - namely, adsorbed cell systems (or biofilms) and entrapped cell systems. The use of aquatic plants for water purification is also considered. Finally, the production of genetically engineered microorganisms by mutagenesis and recombination is discussed. Main Hea
