In written language, such things as paragraph structure and punctuation have semantic content; in other forms of language, there is other semantic content.Pragmatics is a subfield of linguisti
3、cs which studies the ways in which context contributes to meaning. Pragmatics encompasses speech act theory, conversational implicature, talk in interaction and other approaches to language behavior in philosophy, sociology, and linguistics.Those are definition of semantics and pragmatics.Therefore,
4、simply put,pragmatics is the analysis of language behavior, to guide us how to communicate with people in social environment.However,semantics is the study of meaning.So in many areas they are complementary relationship. On one hand, mankind need use language to express their emotion and feeling. On
5、 other hand,they use language to communicate with someone so that they can achieve anticipative aim. For that reason, its necessary to study“How to say“and “Say what“. In daily life, we have a very very short time to organize what to say and how to say before we really say it out. On the contrary, i
6、f a person always talk without thinking,analyzing, its easy to offend other people, or sometimes its difficult to express what he think about. Thus, of course he cannot receive desire result. A study has shown that the model of peoples communication is funnel- shaped. That is to say, when A want to
7、make himself understood totally, but he can just express its 90% while listener can just receive 70%.
