6、e diseasesStudies have shown that oxidative stress is involved in neurodegeneration and active ingredients of many berry fruits, such as strawberry, raspberry, black currant, blackberry, blueberry, mulberry, have anti-oxidative abilities. Therefore, it is theorized that increased consumption of anti

7、oxidants may be effective in preventing or ameliorating brain aging and in neurodegenerative diseases. A research group led by Prof. Musthafa Mohamed Essa from Sultan Qaboos University in Sultanate of Oman reviews the neuroprotective effects of berry fruits on neurodegenerative diseases are related

8、to phytochemicals such as anthocyanin, caffeic acid, catechin, quercetin, kaempferol and tannin. In this review, they made an attempt to clearly describe the benefcial effects of various types of berries as promising neuroprotective agents.
