2、本文分析了围绕译者形成的三对主体间性关系,阐明了译者的“忠实兼叛逆”这一文学翻译的本质特征。最后,本论文结合红楼梦的英译实例对文学翻译的主体间性进行了实证性研究。 当前国内译界对文学翻译的主体间性问题的讨论主要围绕两大热点问题,即谁是翻译的主体?什么是翻译的主体间性?学界倾向于把翻译的主体仅仅理解为源作者、译者和目标语读者,把翻译的主体间性理解为他们三者之间的关系。 借鉴了西方的主体间性哲学和文学理论,本论文界定了五大翻译的主体,他们不属于同一个范畴,而是具有各自鲜明的主体性特征:源语作者是“创作主体”,文本(源文本和目标文本)是“历史主体”,译者是“翻译主体”,赞助人是“操控主体”,目标语读

3、者是“接受主体”。这五大主体“共在”于翻译活动的源文本的阐释过程、目标文本的创作和接受过程,且各司其职。 在这五大主体中,译者是最积极和重要的主体,先是作为源文本的特殊读者,然后是源语文化和目标文化的协调者,最后是目标文本的创作者,由此围宁波大学硕士学位论文宁波大学硕士学位论文 绕译者形成了三对主体间性关系:源文本阐释阶段的“源作者“源作者源文本源文本译者”译者”,揭示了文本意义的主体间性本质;目标文本创作阶段的“赞助人“赞助人译者译者译文读者”译文读者”,彰显了“文本外”制约因素对译者的影响,导致其对源文本的创造性叛逆;这两对三位一体的关系之间存在着一对辨证的“多主体”“多主体”关系,这对关

4、系揭示了在文学翻译中译者的“忠实”和“叛逆”的结合。鉴于译者的重要地位,“译者的主体间性”因此应该成为文学翻译的主体间性研究的重心。 “忠实兼叛逆”“忠实兼叛逆”这一概念,揭示了文学翻译活动和“译者主体间性”的本质。作为翻译主体,译者一方面不得不在源语语境和目标语境所框定的界限内忠实地翻译;另一方面,译者具有主体能动性以打破这些藩篱,要么可以“误读”源文本,要么创造出一个目标文本,与接受语境下的主流意识形态和诗学形态相抵触甚至颠覆之,因此冒有被禁止出版的风险,但可以给目标文化的文学系统注入新鲜的血液。 文学翻译的主体间性研究,尤其是译者的主体间性研究,旨在先前的“源语中心”研究和当前的“目标语

6、n one of the focal points of translation studies in China. Starting from the current domestic studies in this field, this thesis, based on the Western theories of inter-subjectivity philosophy and literature, identifies five subjects in literary translation. In consideration of the primary status of

7、 the translator, this thesis focuses upon three inter-subjective relationships that form around the translator, and elucidates the essence of literary translation characterized by the translators “loyalty plus treason”. In the end, theoretical studies are combined with a critical examination of two

8、English translations of Hong Lou Meng in an attempt to further the inter-subjectivity studies of literary translation. The current inter-subjectivity studies in China mainly center on two facets: 1) who is/are the subject(s) of translation? and 2) what is the inter-subjective relationship? However,

9、it is generally held that subjects of translation are merely the source-language author, the translator and the target- language reader and that inter-subjective relationship is the relationship between these subjects. Drawing on the theories of inter-subjectivity philosophy and literature, this the

10、sis identifies five subjects of translation, which do not fall into the same category, but have their own marked features of subjectivity: the SLA as the creative subject, the text (the source text and the target text) as the historical subject, the translator as the translating subject, the patron

11、as the manipulating subject, and the TLR as the receiving subject. These five subjects co-exist and play their roles in a certain stage of the whole translation “event”, namely, interpretation of the source text, creation of a target text and reception of the TT. Among the above five subjects, the t

12、ranslator is the most active and important one, first as a special reader of the source text, then as the mediator between the source and target cultures, and finally the creator of the translated work. Centring round the translator exist mainly three inter- subjective relationships, i.e., “SLASTTra

13、nslator” relationship in the process of interpreting the source text, which reveals the inter-subjective nature of textual meaning; “Patron TranslatorTLR” relationship in the process of creating a translated work, which demonstrates the extra-textual constraints upon the translator, thus causing his

In view of the translators primary status, the translator

15、s inter-subjectivity, therefore, should be the focus of inter-subjectivity studies of literary translation. 16、as to operate loyally within the parameters set by the source and target contexts; on the other hand, the translator has the initiatives to break those hedges by either misreading the source text, or producing a target text that contradicts, even reverses the dominant ideology and poetics in the receiving culture, thus injecting fresh blood into the literary system of the target culture but running the risk of being banned publ
