The theme for this years conference is “Asia winning in todays global economy innovation and sustainable development“. Over the next two days, leading figures from
2、 different walks of life from home and abroad will be sharing with us and each other their vision for the future of Asia, how it can continue its fast development in a healthy and sustainable manner.Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the Excellency Mr. Wu Bangguo, chairman of standing committee of
3、 National Peoples Congress of China, her Excellency Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, President of Philippines, his Excellency Mr. Shaukat Aziz, Prime Minister of Pakistan, his Excellency Mr. Fidel Ramos, chairman of board directors Boao forum for Asia, Mr. Bill Gates, chairman of Microsoft Corporation, Mr.

We thank you not only for your support to Boao Forum for Asia, but your support to the historical process of the rise of Asia,

President Arroyo, prime minister Shaukat Aziz, Republic Pakistan, your excellency chairman Wu Bangguo of peoples republic of china, Bill gates, we need no further introduction, a
8、nd chairman of SK, Chey Tae Won, your Excellencies and distinguished guests with us today, i say, on behalf of all the directors, welcome, welcome. Let me say, in Philippines, we say “mabuhai“. Mabuhai just means “welcome”, but you may use “mabuhai” to may health and longlife. Because mabuhai also m
9、eans “happy birthday”, “merry Christmas”, “happy New Year”, “happy mothers day” and “happy mother in laws” day. Please dont forget this. And the spirit of Mabuhai may us people right here. Come on. Thats all we say in Philippines and we hope to do it all over Asia after shaking hands. We embrace eac
10、h other. Go ahead over here, the other people. Let me say how delighted we are for this opportunity to be here with you in this hall, you the friends from wide abroad as well as us fellow Asians. On behalf of our board, and the entire Boao Forum for Asia membership, let me keep repeating welcome and
11、 appreciation. Our welcome and appreciation also go to those senior government officials, business leaders, scholars, experts and young people from all over to enjoy with us. Let us clap our hands once more, for all of you, the participants. As we know, the year 2007 in Chinese calendar, is the year
12、 of golden peek, which additionally is believed to be a year of affluence, prosperity, good health, happiness and good luck. So 2007 is a good year. But our wishes are that may you have all of these good things not just in the year 2007, but beyond. Dear friends, ladies and gentlemen, as chairman, I
13、m proud to announce that the Boao Forum for Asia has really taken root under cities of white bank on the other side of China. Over the last 3 or 4 years, we have been assembled in this ,which is now the home of the conference of Boao Forum for Asia. And in the process of getting from there to here n
14、ow, i can say, the Boao Forum for Asia has taken root, thanks to all of you, and is now throwing to more opportunities. We are not there. But we hope well get there sooner than later. And here, we enjoy the benefit of the most authority voices, the most insightful views, the most analysis from leade
15、rs of the national governments, the business community and from across the world or the benefits from nations and peoples of Asia. We are extending the communication in regional, political, economic, geographical and cultural boundaries. We have examined and influenced in the globalized world of 21s
16、t century. I identify the tiding forces of Asias economic growth and above all, we convey to the world clear and strong signals, the concerns and the aspirations of the peoples of Asia. As Asias economies continue to grow at the worlds fastest rates, we have reason to believe that Asia would eventually become the centre of the world economy. We do respect to everyone else.
