Introduction1.1 The different concepts of family educationIn China, most parents care more about their childrens future, a good job and a good life, and the aim is expecting their

Therefore, in the process of childrens growth, the most important thing the parents concerning is to develop their childrens intellect, and make their children have manifold talents. While, American parents pay more attention on the childrens own strength and experiences. Mo
5、st American parents emphasize more to train their childrens ability of independence, so that their children should form a self-supporting will and the capacity to live independently since their childhood.1.2 The different method of family educationIn Chinese family, affected by Chinese traditional c
6、ulture, parents educate children by “control” and “seal” type. Parents prepare all things for their children and are very strict with them, children are not allowed to go to the out world for the case of affected by bad things.The west emphasizes the childs “power of understanding”. They like lettin
7、g the child practice by himself, going to the nature, seeking the knowledge from life. They do not think that play and study are conflicting with each other, and encourage the child to study outside, pay great attention to the childs ability to ponder. The parents usually lead the child in seeking t

9、, so the Chinese value life and the human relations extremely. Therefore, the Chinese parents have regarded the morals as the highest value orientation in the education. The Chinese child was taught by historical story, ethics, loyalty, filial piety and integrity when he was young.Yet, what the west
10、ern culture grasps is knowledge, the family mainly arouses the childs the curiosity about and the imagination of nature. The western parents also focus on family reading. The children must listen to section of stories before sleeping, and this is a fine tradition of Western family education. In addi
11、tion, they regard the psychological development as the highest direction, so the cultivation of childs interest and the creativity is the main point of Western family education.2. Different cultures lead to different family education2.1 Value orientationAmericans pay more attention on individualism
12、and personal interests. Advocating personal development and self realization are the core of American culture. In American family, parents tend to separate themselves and children into two individuals. While, Chinese pay more attention on general, they emphasis on collective interests, but personal

Chinese parents think their children are the continues of their own value, their whole life and the hope of their life, and they can not be separated with their children.2.2 Thinking stylesAmericans are rational, American family education highly treated with the basic principles of ration

American parents take raising and educating their children as the obligations, which is beyond the individuals position, but it is not completely from the family or the parents themselves. While, Chinese think friendship is the most important, humanism is the fo

The results of two different kinds of family educationMost American children can adapt to the society more smoothly than many Chinese children. They can face and overcome setbacks more easily.
