1、When is Your BirthdayGood afternoon, ladies and gentleman. Its my great pleasure to be here sharing my lesson with you. Today I am going to present my teaching design of “Unit8 When is your birthday”. Ill analysis this design in seven aspects: teaching material, students, objectives, points and diff

2、iculties, methods, procedures, and blackboard design.Part one Teaching materialThe teaching material is chosen from Unit 8 of Grade 7 and my speech will focus on Section A of this unit. This unit mainly talks about the dates. Ss will learn some new words about month, ordinal numeral, and when questi

3、ons.Part two StudentsThe next aspect is students. They are grade 2 in junior school, and they are passionate, curious and sensitive. But they lack vocabularies, so they are not good at speaking and writing. Some of them maybe too shy to speak. So I will try to enable Ss to learn efficiently by creat

4、ing a active learning atmosphere.Part three Teaching objectivesThen I will talk about my teaching aims. This part include three aims:knowledge aims, skill aims and moral aims. Firstly, the knowledge aims:(1) To enable Ss learn the new words about month of the year and ordinal numbers 1-31. (2) To ge

5、t Ss learn to use When questions and expressions of dates. Secondly, skill aims: To get Ss to learn to talk about dates and practice their communicative skill. Thirdly, moral aims: In this lesson, Ss can enhance mutual understanding and deepen their friendship. Part four key points and difficultiesT

6、he key points of this lesson is to make Ss master the new words and sentence pattern, to enable Ss correctly read, understand and use them. The difficult points is to make Ss be able to talk about dates and master the usage of ordinal numeral. In order to achieve the teaching aims and finish the key

7、 points and difficult points, teachers instruction should combined with plenty of exercises.Part five teaching methodIn order to achieve the above teaching aims, stand out the key points and breakthrough the teaching difficulty, I will use different kinds of methods to attract the Ss attention, to m

8、ake the class vivid, to arouse the Ss interest in speaking English. For this lesson, multi-media assistant language teaching will be adopted to organize some activities for consolidating the vocabulary and being familiar with the sentence patterns. Communicative language teaching method will be appl

9、ied to stimulate students enthusiasm for learning. Besides, task-based language teaching will be used too. During the process of completing some certain task, the students can use the language to express themselves. In addition, by applying cooperate learning method, Ss can share their knowledge and

10、 skills, and practice their communicative ability through pair work and group work.Part six teaching procedure.Lets go on with teaching procedures. First I will show you the flow chart of the teaching procedures (read P9 in the PPT). Then I will state my teaching procedures in details.Step 1 Warm up

11、 Listen to the birthday song, get the Ss to sing together, arose their interest in this new unit.Step 2 Lead inI will have a free talking with the students, because free talking is an important way to improve the students ability of speaking and of course it can prepare for the next step. Ill ask se

12、veral students some questions like: Do you know your (father/ mother/friends) birthday?Step 3 PresentationIn the free talk, Ill lead the students to todays topic “When is your birthday”. I will ask the question “when is your birthday ?” and get Ss to answer “my birthday is .”. Then I am going to giv

13、e them the new words , show the 12 months in a year and numeral numbers on the screen. Students are required to remember and use these words after the class. The next step is to show them the grammar rules and sentence patterns “when is your birthday? My birthday is .” and make sure they have unders

14、tood it.Step 4 PracticeListening drillsDo Section A, 1b, listen and number the conversations (1-3). Show the picture on page 1 on the screen with no words on it. Get student to listen to the tape and try to repeat the sentences in the conversations.Do Section A , 2a. Listen to 4 conversations. Do Se

15、ction A , 2b. Listen again, circle the numbers according to the tape. Listen for the last time, then fill in the blanks.Through the two practices Ss can memorize the new words and practice their listening skills.Pair workGet the Ss listen to the conversations again and repeat after the tape, then wo

16、rk in pairs or in small groups to interview others when their birthday is and share the results they get.This aims at practicing students oral English and helping them to master the sentence patterns.Summary When students finish practicing, we will move to another important section, summary. I prefer to review the vocabulary, sentence patterns and show them some knowledge about the dates of festival.Step 5 Homework Listen and read after the tape for
