4、ndustryRevolution,Americanshavefallenin,notonlythewayoflifethroughwhichAmericansriflingformoreluxuriousenjoyment,butthemoralityofheartthattheypersuedprosperitywithallcostsofwhichtheywereoblivious.Luckly,wehadpeoplewhosawtherealitymuchmoreclearlythantheblindmasses,whilethosewereconsideredCriticsofpoi

5、ntedoutthatmanyversionsofthedreamequateprosperitywithhappiness,andthathappinessmaynotalwaysbethatsimple.ThesecriticssuggestthattheAmericanDreammayalwaysremaintantalizinglyoutofreachforsomeAmericans,makingitmorelikeacrueljokethanagenuinedream.FitzgeraldwasoneofthemwhowentthefirststepthatAmericanficti
