2、Chinese Wushu gave me to understand how to be unobtrusive, to be sincere, to be polite, to be loyal, and to be trustful. It also taught me how to be a courageous, patient, enduring, persevering, and determined person. Form movies, I slowly realized two actors which are Bruce Lee and Jet Li, and I ex

3、tremely worship them because they totally express Chinese martial morality which is an important concept in Chinese martial arts referring to a general set of principles that a martial artist should follow. Although frequently lumped together, Bruce Lee and Jet Li intensely differ in background, phi

4、losophy, and acting career.Bruce Lee was born as Lee Junfan in San Francisco, California and grew up in Hong Kong. His father, Lee Hoichuen, was one of the leading Cantonese opera and film actors at that time. His mother, Grace Ho, was from one of the wealthiest and most powerful clans in Hong Kong.

5、 As such, the young Bruce Lee grew up in an affluent and privileged environment. However, post-war Hong Kong was a tough place to grow up, and gangs ruled the city streets and Lee was often forced to fight them. After being involved in several street fights, Lees parents decided that he needed to be

6、 trained in the martial arts; therefore, he began training in Wing Chun at the age of 13 under the Wing Chun teacher Yip Man in 1954, after losing a fight with rival gang members. At the age of 18, Lee returned to the United States with $100 in his pocket. He finished his high school at Edison Techn

7、ical School (now Seattle Central Community College) and was majoring philosophy at University of Washington.Jet Lis background is totally different with Bruce Lees. Jet Li was born as Li Lianjie in Beijing, Peoples Republic of China. His father died when he was two years old, and his mother was a ti

8、cket seller. He began training in Chinese martial arts at the age of 8 on the Beijing Wushu Team which is an athletic group organized to perform martial arts forms with his first coach Wu Bin. According to Li, once, as a child, when the Chinese National Wushu Team went to perform for President Richa

9、rd Nixon in the United States, he was asked by Nixon to be his personal bodyguard. Li replied, I dont want to protect any individual. When I grow up, I want to defend my one billion Chinese countrymen! (Li, life essay: part 7) Unfortunately, Li never finished his elementary school because his family

10、 did not have enough money supporting him.Different lives and experiences give these two great warriors absolutely different thoughts and inspiration; therefore, they held intensely contrasting philosophies. Jeet Kung Do is a form of expression for Lees philosophy, and he think it is refined as a pr

11、oduct, not a process. He believed that simplicity is the key to be brilliant. Therefore, in his annotations of Jeet Kung Do, he said, My movement are simple, direct and no classical. Every movement in Jeet Kung Do is being so of itself. There is nothing artificial about it. I always believe that the

12、 easy way is the right way. (The Legend of Bruce Lee) Lee also adhere that martial systems should be as flexible as possible, and he often used water as an analogy for describing why flexibility is a desired trait in martial arts because water is infinitely flexible. It can be floating, be ceaseless

13、, or be all-pervasive. It also can erode the hardest rocks by gently lapping away at them or it can flow past the tiniest pebble. In an interview, Lee told reporter, Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle and

14、it becomes the bottle. You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow, creep, drip or it can crash. 16、t violence is a worst way to solve problems; Fearless reminds that the biggest enemy of a person is himself.
