3、 DNA of HPs for more than sixt ears。 Our sientists and engineers toda generate more than 11 patents ever da。 We spend more than 4 billion dollars a ear on RD。 So invention is part of our future as ell as part of our past。That all sounds prett impressive until ou think about Chinas histor， and ou rea

10、 universit。 The person ou are todathe goals ou have toda， the dreams ou have todama be different from the ones ou had hen ou first ame here。 And no， ou are being prepared to take all that ouve learned here and make it ork in the orld around ou。 I believe that oung people are graduating toda into a o
11、rld filled ith more hope and more promise than in an other time in our histor。 I kno sometimes that might sound strange， beause e think alas of the dangers and hallenges in the orld around us。 But I have studied histor in m life。 I do believe this is an era of great promise and great opportunit。For

14、 trading nations - a leader on both the prodution and onsumption of information tehnolog。 China is poised to pla a huge part in that futureand the students ho graduate from Tsinghua Universit are poised to shape the future of tehnolog like never before。 No like an universit students， I kno for ou th
15、e road ahead has muh unertaint。 But if there is one thing I have learned in the past 20 ears in this industr， it is that the priniple that ou have learned inside the alls of Tsinghua， the priniple is more true outside the universit than inside。 The priniple I am speaking of is this: that great leade
