1、1Unit 2 Poems Using Language南宁市第二中学 丁丽云一、Teaching philosophy:In todays language teaching, teachers should take the role of scaffolding for the students. He should not tell the students everything, but provide support for the students to find things on their own. Another key element in language teach

2、ing is interaction, without which language cannot be learned. Therefore, the class time should be given to the students interactive activities. As to reading and writing class, some reading and writing strategies should be introduced and applied into practical learning. With the teachers careful sca

3、ffolding the language class will be successful in developing the learners reading and wring abilities in the end.二、Analysis of the Teaching MaterialThe selected material is Using Language in Unit 2 from Students book 6. It consists of three parts: Reading and Discussion; Listening and Speaking; as w

4、ell as Writing. This period plays a very important part , which is not only a review of Reading, but also a process of output. To be more practical and to meet the demands of my students, I integrate and restructure the materials . My teaching focuses on two aspects: Reading and appreciating a poem

5、titled Ive saved the summer and writing simple English poems. From the beginning to the end, I adopt the Knowledge Spiral Theory( from platform knowledge to target knowledge) .三、Analysis of StudentsSenior students Grade 2 have learned English for more than 5 years. Thus, for the linguistic proficien

6、cy, they have mastered some skills and strategies in reading and writing. They are familiar with Chinese poems and also can sing some English songs but know little about how to write English poems. In addition, The students at this age are usually active, creative and imaginative, but, at the same t

7、ime, they are easy to get absent-minded in class. Therefore, in this class, based on the Knowledge Spiral Theory, I designed various activities to stimulate their interest, and to make them concentrate on the class.四、 Teaching Aims Teaching AimsBy the end of the class students will be able to unders

8、tand the poem Ive Saved the Summer by listening ,reading and discussing;Knowledge AimsThey will know some poetic devices in writing English poems.2Students will improve their abilities to read and write English poems.Ability AimsThey will learn to express their own feelings in their own works and th

9、us cultivate their ability to communicate and cooperate with others.By the end of the class students love to English poems will be stimulated, and they can taste the emotions conveyed by the poets.Emotional AimsThey will be inspired to love their life and their parents , classmates or teachers by wr

13、 interest in English poems.3Step 2 Reading and Appreciating (12 minutes)Reading for Writing Task 1 : Pre-reading (listening)Ask the Ss to close their eyes and listen to the “music” of the poem with the question: Does it make you feel something or think about something? What does it make you feel or

14、think? Task 2: Reading A: Have Ss in pairs read aloud to each other, circle the words that rhyme, and try finding the strong beats . B: Play the tape again and ask all of them to follow, try beating or clapping the strong beats of the rhythm. Check finally.Task 3: Discussion Discuss these questions

15、in groups of four :1)Who is the speaker in the poem and who is he/she speaking to? Give reasons to support your answer.2). Which of the following is the closest to the speakers message?A.
