6、白地或曲折地赞誉说话者以外的对象(通常指受话者或与受话者有关的事物)，赞誉的内容往往是指对方一些“好”的方面(如在财产、成就、才能，外表等方面)，这些方面在说话者和听话者的价值观念里一般都是值得肯定的。在人际交往中，称赞语主要起着创造或保持和谐的人际关系这一社会功能，它可用来打招呼、致谢、表示鼓励和祝贺、开启话题、缓解矛盾等。称赞语虽然是世界各国人民共有的一种言语交际行为，但它又受着特定的社会文化背景、价值观念和交际规则等因素的影响和制约。因此，不同的语言，其称赞语也必定存在着较大的差异。本文以中西方的称赞话题、称赞对象、应答策略方面对英汉称赞语进行比较研究，指出英汉称赞语的差异源于两种不同的
