1、Unit 3 Celebrations Lesson 1 Spring Festival第一课时教学内容Analysis of the text What: This is an article published in a magazine. The whole passage consists of the paragraphs of notes from the editor of the magazine as well as three readers accounts to Spring Festival. The first note summarizes the main id

2、ea of the whole passage and the importance of Spring Festival in China. The three accounts are three peoples memories of Spring Festival experiences. The first one introduces an exchange students Spring Festival experience in China. The second one is about Xu Gangs feelings and activities before and

3、 after returning hometown for Spring Festival. The third one talks about a 70-year-old grandmothers understanding of Spring Festival, who looks forward to her children and grandchildrens homecoming.Why: This article is intended to enable students to understand the meaning of Spring Festival from thr

4、ee different peoples perspectives. For young foreigners, their attention is more focused on the Spring Festival activities, such as cleaning the house, letting off firecrackers and attaching character “fu”, etc. To them, Spring Festival just means fun and excitement. However, as for us Chinese, it m

5、eans family and reunion. Surely, people of different ages have different opinions about the meaning of Spring Festival. To young adults, it means returning home and being with the entire family. However, to old people, it means looking forward to childrens homecoming and enjoying the happiness of a

6、family gathering.How: Firstly, as for structure of the text, the whole article adopts the form of “ introduction- elucidation- conclusion”, introducing Spring Festival activities from different perspectives. Secondly, as for the content, the article is organized in the order of time, using time adve

7、rbials such as “ a week before, first, next, the night before Spring Festival, every year, when I was a kid, as I get older, weeks before Spring Festival, when everyone comes home”. Thus, the article is clear and well-organized. Thirdly, as for the languages of the text, besides time adverbials, a l

8、ot of verb phrases and non-verb phrases are used to vividly describe the celebrations of Spring Festival, such as “We sat together to enjoy a big dinner; our grandchildren run around shouting and playing.”教学目标By the end of this period, students will be able to:Language competence:1.talk about some c
