It is said to be in memory of a great patriotic(爱国的) poet of the State of Chu during the Warring States Period(战国时期) (475221 B.C.), Q
7、u Yuan, who drowned(淹死) himself to protest(抗议) his emperor(皇帝) who gave in to the bully(欺凌) of State of Chin. For fear (害怕) that fish may consume(吃) his body, people of Chu launched(使下水) their boats and started throwing rice dumplings wrapped(包起来) in bamboo leaves into the river where he was drowned
