The Cultural Industries Fair in Shenzhen is an international platform for culture in all its many aspectsdigital media are ju
4、st as much at home here as print products, dance, folk art, calligraphy, and literature. For the first time this year, an entire hall has been dedicated to international exhibitors, emphasizing the increased importance China places on international contacts. The topic I would like to focus on today
5、is how to market culture internationally, which is exactly what the Frankfurt Book Fair has been doing ever since our establishment 60 years ago after the Second World War. The Frankfurt Book Fair is unique because there is no other place in the world that brings together so many international publi
6、shers, writers, critics and other publishing professionals. More than 7,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries around the world present their products at our Fair. Approximately 180,000 trade visitors come to the Fair from every corner of the world. Each year the Fair invites a country as its Guest
7、of Honor. Several weeks before the fair, the media in Germany begins to focus on the Guest of Honor. Numerous independent events draw attention to this countrys literature and culture, events which range from discussions on literature, politics, and history to theatre, dance, films, and concerts.The
8、 success story of the Frankfurt Book Fair clearly proves that culture and commerce can go hand in hand.
