Millions of Chinese participate in learning English for all kinds of purpose, which leads to the problems,

2、especially Chinglish. Chinglish comes from the impact of Chinese and English cultures, so it has the characteristics of both. It has characteristics in Chinese pronunciation, grammar and words and phrases, but doesnt follow the regulations of English. (Pinkham Joan, 1998: 22) With the mixture in Chi

3、nglish, English speakers and even English learners will be confused about what is expressed.Besides the irregular form of a sentence, Chinglish also shows in the pronunciation. Chinese are used to speak a word by replacing it with another word which has a similar pronunciation because it fits Chines

4、e pronunciation habit. The grammar mistake is the most common phenomenon in Chinglish. For example, Chinese people like to use “the” in front of nouns, no matter it is needed or not, so does the word “ to”. They also cant have a clear mind in recognizing the countable and uncountable nouns, which le

5、ads to the misusing of “many” and “much”. Another grammar mistake is that Chinese people arrange English words in wrong order. Chinglish is a result of the difference of thinking between Chinese and English speaking people. There is a close relationship between language and thinking. Language is the

6、 vessel of thinking, and it can reflect peoples thinking model, psychological characteristics and national cultures; meanwhile, thinking is the soul of language, it can guide and govern the use of language. However, different nations have different ways of thinking, and the mode of thinking is relat

7、ed to a nations culture and value. (Yanping, 2010: 157) Chinese is a language of holistic thinking while English is a language of individual thinking. The different orders of logical thinking result in the form of Chinglish. Therefore, many English learners have learned grammar and accumulated thous

8、ands of words by several years of learning, but still cannot speak English fluently. The reason is that they have not learned to think in English way of thinking. So even they speak out, there must be some kinds of Chinglish.When Chinese communicating with westerners, sometimes the Chinglish in the

9、conversation may not have grammatical mistake, but that will still cause some misunderstandings. Therefore, for an English learner, it is necessary to learn the cultural background before he learns English. Chinese people always make Chinglish randomly and without logical thinking. They cannot natur

10、ally adapt to English thinking model and express their thoughts in Chinese one. In a conversation towards an English speaker, the first step they convert what they want to express in Chinese regulation, then come to the second step, the English speaker should reorganize the words into English regula

11、tion, which is difficult for both and always make misunderstandings. Besides, most Chinese English learners tend to do translation more than simply write an article. (Cheng Zhenqiu, 1981: 56)When they are doing writing, first of all they will think out a Chinese version of what they want to write on

12、 their mind, and then translate it into English. But we all know that a good translation should check with the original and have a proper form which fits the regulation of the source language. To be natural and fluent are the basic needs of translation. However, with the lack of theoretical knowledg

13、e of translation and practice, Chinese learners cannot get rid of the Chinese bound, which makes the incorrect translation, and many problems appear. With the economic globalization, every single culture begins to come out of its own region and go into others. When learning English, theres an import

14、ant essence should not be ignored, that is every second language learner has an automatic mother tongue. When a learner uses English, there is always a lack of environment and the real situation. In the process of understanding, learning and using English, the first language will naturally come out

15、to fill the blank of the background, which causes Chinglish and will affect English learning. Except the lack of environment, the lack of culture will either causes Chinglish. English emphasis on logic and scientificalness, while Chinese emphasis on apperception, and has fuzziness. Under years of st

16、eeping in Chinese, English learners are used to Chinese, and are easy to ignore the scientificalness so that its hard for them to accept the scientific expression. Under this kind of situation, misunderstanding of culture emerges. Similar common words in both English and Chinese are countless, the mixture of culture certainly exist. Whats more, the deeper mother tongue in mind, the easier to misuse a second language. So its where Chinglish comes from.Chinglish
