5、a have stepped up their reach for a fifteen-year-old boy -Search的宾语一般是sb 或是place,for 后接要寻找的目标。Search for sth =look for sth search out 找到,查出【注意】search sb 搜某人的身 The police searched the man and found a gun. Search for sb 要寻找某人My sister searched for her files but in vain.【常用短语】 in search of 与in a / ones

6、 search for, 都表示寻找,在句子既可以 做状语, 也可以做表语,注意前者用介词for,后者用介词of 不可混淆。2-boy who went missing three days ago-,police puzzled1)missing adj 失踪了的,不见了的There are still some people missing in the YuShu earthquake.I never found the missing piece Missing意为“失踪了的,不见了的”,强调某人某物不在原处,在句子可作定语,表语,和补足语Lost意为“丢失的,迷路的”强调失去难以回归

7、的意味,在句子作作定语,表语和补足语gone 意为“不在的,已去的”,强调一去不复返的意味,在句子可作作,表语,和补足但不能做定语【易混辨析】On my way home I found my wallet missing/ gone /lost. 2)puzzled adj (人)困惑的,迷惑不解的,茫然的 He looked puzzled so I repeated the question. She had a puzzled look on her face. missing 和puzzled分别为现在分词和过去分词作表语。现在分词作表语和主语之间往往是主动关系,表示主语的性质;过去

8、分词作表语和主语之间往往是被动关系,表示主语所处的状态The news was exciting and the students were all excited at it. His shouting was frightening and the boys felt frightened.他大吼一声把那些男孩都吓住了。【注意】puzzled(人)困惑的,迷惑不解的,茫然的,用来说明人的心理状态,另外,名词voice,look,expression 等也常用puzzled来修饰:puzzling 意为“令人迷惑不解的”一般用来修饰事物,说明事物的特征.The students were p
