They must meet length, width, and weight-testing requirements as well as uniformity requirements for rung and rail spacing. All ladders have

4、 commonly recognizable features. Look at this diagram that labels the basic parts of a stepladder and an extension ladder.,3,General Ladder Safety,In general, ladders must be capable of supporting their maximum intended load, while mobile ladder stands and platforms must be capable of supporting fou

5、r times their maximum intended load. Each ladder must be inspected before initial use in a work shift to identify defects that could cause injury.,4,General Ladder Safety,If you find any faulty or defective components, you must mark the ladder as defective, remove it from service, and attach a sign

6、that indicates Danger! Do not use. Ladders must be restored to their original design criteria before they can be returned to use. Ladders that cannot be restored must be destroyed. 8、emporary Whether it meets government, industry, and company standards,6,Ladder Safety,The weight classification of the ladder must not be exceeded by the total load of the person and the material. Ladders are designed for use by one person only. Ladders must be inspected before use for cleanliness,

9、condition and for the marked load capacity. Ladders must be repaired immediately or tagged “Danger, Do Not Use”,7,Ladder Safety,A frame type ladders must be fully opened and the spreaders on step ladders must be fully spread and locked.,8,Ladder Safety,9,Things to think about before using an A frame

10、 type ladder.,Ladder Safety,10,Ladders of the proper length must be used. If at a roof or platform edge, extension ladders should extend 3 feet or more above the edge.,Ladder Safety,11,Single ladders shall not exceed 30 feet in length and step ladders shall not exceed 20 feet in length. On extension

11、 ladders, the minimum overlap of the two sections is 3 feet for up to 36 foot ladders, 4 feet for ladders over 36 feet and up to 48 foot ladders, and 5 feet for ladders over 48 feet and up to 60 feet.,Ladder Safety,Extension ladders must not be used on slippery surfaces. If forced to use a ladder on

12、 a slippery surface, ensure it is secured before climbing. Extension ladders must be set at the proper angle. When standing at the foot of

Another person must hold the single or ext

14、ension ladder when a person is ascending or descending it unless it is tied off as close to the support point as possible. Dont move the ladder with someone on it.,14,Ladder Safety,Ladders must not be used in front of doors or passageways unless the door is locked and barricade tape, cones, or other

Always face the ladder when climbing up or down and maintain a firm grip.
