I am honored to be appointed as the first UNICEF Ambassador in China and feel a certain responsibility to this cause.I believe that in the future there will be many more

9、46 for the purpose of providing emergency assistance to children suffering from the Second World War. Since 1950, the Fund has involved itself in solving childrens problems in the developing countries such as malnutrition, illness and education, and its business scope has expanded to childrens survi
10、val, development and protection, with the protection of girls as its top priority.,Introduction of UNICEF,Chinas Relations with UNICEF,China began its cooperation with the Fund in 1979 and has been the member of its Executive Board since 1980. Mr. Carol Bellamy (from the United States), Executive Di
11、rector of the Fund, visited China many times. The Fund provided USD285.66 million of assistance to China between 1990 and 1998 and carried out 150 projects.,Chinas Relations with UNICEF,Since 1979, China has contributed USD 11.8 million and RMB 2.1 million to the Fund. In 1998, Chinas donation amoun
12、ted to USD1.1 million and RMB 300,000. In March 1991, former Premier Li Peng, on behalf of the Chinese government, signed the World Declaration on the Survival, Protection and Development of the Children and the Plan of Action which were adopted by the World Summit for Children.,Chinas Relations wit
13、h UNICEF,The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and the All-China Womens Federation are responsible for matters relating to the Fund. The Fund set up its office in Beijing in 1981. 14、born in 1968 in Beijing, who holds a masters degree from Columbia University in the United States, is one of Chinas 50 most successful entrepreneurs and probably Chinas wealthiest self-made woman.,About Yang lan,Yangs TV skills are matched by a keen mind for business. In 1999, with her husband, Wu Zheng, she started her own media company, Sun Television Cyber networks (Sun TV). Traded on the Hong Kong stock exchange , Sun TV was valued at $179 million on Nov. 3.
