That s the only thing _we can do now. 二定语从句1. 概念:在复合句中,修饰某一名词或代词的从句叫定语从句。定语从句所修饰的名词(代词)叫先行词,定语从句通过关系词来引导。定语从句分为限制性定语从句和非限制性定语从句。2. 基本结构:先行词+关系代/副词+从句 先行词:指主句整句或主句部分被定语从句所修饰的名词或代词。 关系词:关系词有三个作用:一是连接主句与从句; 二是指代先行词;三是在从句中

4、充当句子成分。选择关系词的两条重要依据: 先行词是人还是物;在从句中作何种句子成分。3. 关系词的选择与作用从句中作用指人指物主句整句主语Who thatWhich that ,as 或As., ,which(置主句后)宾语Who whom that prep.+whomWhich that prep.+which,as 或As., ,which(置主句后)定语Whose Whose of which时间状语(指at the time /in the year /on the day)when , at/in /on which地点状语(指at /in the place )where, at

5、 /in which原因状语(指for the reason)why, for which方式状语(指in this /that way)in which, that 或不填4. 关系词的特殊用法(1) 只能用that ,不能用which 的情况a. 先行词是指物的all, little , much , few, everything , anything, nothing, none 等不定代词时b. 先行词被all, every, any, much, little , few, no 等词修饰时c. 先行词被序数词或形容词最高级修饰时d. 先行词被the only, the very(

6、正是,恰是), the same , the last 修饰时e. 先行词既指人又指物时。f. 当主句是以which, who, what 开头的特殊疑问句时,引导定语从句的关系代词一般用that(2) 不用that 的情况a.在引导非限制性定语从句时;介词后不能用。 (可简单记为“前有介词和逗号, 不能用that.) (3)关系代词as 的用法只能用按时引导的非限制性定语从句:a置于句首时,非限制性定语从句只能用as引导;_ is known to everybody, the moon travels around the earth once every month.b在the same

8、能用whom(指人)和which(指物)。先行词指人时,用whom, 先行词指物时用which. 在这种结构中 , “介词”的选择可依据以下几点:a. 介词与定语从句中的谓语动词是一种固定搭配。b. 看句中需用哪个介词句意才符合逻辑。例如:表示“所有关系”或整体中的一部分时常用of. c. 介词与定语从句中的形容词一起构成固定搭配,如be proud of 为固定词组。 (5) 如果先行词是way, 可用that, in which 引导定语从句,或不用关系代词。 Eg: I dont like the way that he spoke to me. =?三易混点举例1. 关系词在定语从句中

9、充当主语,宾语还是状语(1) I live in Guangzhou _is in the south of China. (2) Ill go to Beijing _my uncle works and lives. (3) Ill never forget the day _I spent with my friends in the country. . (4) I still remember the day _I stayed in the country with my friends. 当先行词是表示时间、地点或原因的词语时, 不一定填关系副词when, where, why,

10、 需要弄清所缺的关系词在从句中的作用才能选择恰当的关系词。需要牢记的是:关系副词在定语从句中只能做状语,即使先行词是表示时间,地点的名词,但如果所缺关系词在从句中是做主语,宾语的话,仍然要用关系代词which, that. 四强化训练1. This is the place _I once lived. 2.
