7、or tenant of a farm .（雇农、自耕农，佃农） 多用于发展中国家，我国农民习惯译为peasant，英国19世纪也叫peasant，如今英国的农民都称之为farmer了。 2. live on “以为食，靠为生”主语是人 feed on“以为食，靠为生”主语是动物或婴儿 feed sb/ sth on / with feed sth. to sb/ sth. eg. Cattle feed mostly on grass . People here live on rice . She lives on a small salary . 3. go bad. go系动词“变，变
8、成”( become )多跟形容词作表语，表示主语由好变化或由正常情况变成特殊情况 go bad （变坏）go mad（变疯）go blind（变瞎）go wrong（出毛病）go hungry , go white eg. He has gone deaf .他耳朵聋了。 The children must not go hungry .不要让孩子挨饿。 The telephone has gone dead .电话机坏了。 Fish soon goes had in hot weather .热天鱼很快就变质了。 become较正式，书面语，变化已完成，也可表成什么样的人（变化可好可坏）
9、get口语，表短时间的状态变化，常接形作表语，常和比较级连用（变化可好可坏） eg. The situation has Theyre grow变成，有逐渐变成新的状态含义 eg. My younger brother is growing tall . The smoke grew heavier and thicker . turn“变成”后接a作表，指某人的表情或事物变成和原来不相同的状态，强调变化结果 eg. The trees turn green . The thiefs face slowly turned red . Change 可作及、不及v. 是一个常用词，几乎可指任何变

You havent changed your mind , have you ? 4. tens of thousands of = thousands upon thousands of 数以万计的，千千万万的 dozens of = ( dozens and dozens of )好几十 hundreds of = ( hundreds and hundreds of )好几百，成百上千的 thousands of = ( thousands and thousands of )成千上万的 millions of = ( millions and millions of )几百万的 eg.
