2、 your organization at the 2020 Minnesota OJP Conference on Crime and Victimization to be held May 19-21, 2020. What is the Minnesota OJP Conference on Crime and Victimization?The Minnesota OJP Conference on Crime and Victimization brings together criminal justice and advocacy scholars and practition

3、ers to highlight current research, improve skills, share information, and network with peers. The conference encourages learning and dialogue to address, respond to, and prevent crime and victimization. It challenges participants to break through longstanding barriers in providing high quality servi

4、ces both in the advocacy community and the criminal justice system. AudienceOJP estimates approximately 400+ people will attend the conference this year. Attendees come from disciplines and experiences which include victims/survivors of crime, community- and system-based victim advocates, law enforc

5、ement officers, prosecutors, judges, court personnel, probation/corrections agents, medical/health care practitioners, social service professionals, youth workers, restorative justice professionals, and others interested in crime and victimization.LocationThe location of the conference has not yet b

6、een determined. We are currently collecting responses from a survey asking those who have attended the conference in the past what their location preferences are for the 2020 conference. Once a location has been determined, it is announced on the conference portion of the OJP website. Workshop Crite

7、ria Workshops are either 60 minutes or 90 minutes. A limited number of two-part workshops totaling three hours will be accepted. Panel discussions of up to four discussants will also be accepted. Presentations on all topics related to the intersection of crime and victimization are welcome, with spe

8、cial consideration given to the following topics:Trauma informed therapeutic practicesJuvenile JusticeResponding to victims of gang violenceChild Welfare/Child Abuse/ProtectionVictims of terrorism; international, regional, national frameworkConversations on racial justiceMissing people who are later

9、 recoveredProviders as victimsIssues specific to Tribes/American IndiansOfficer involved domestic violenceOfficer involved shootings and role of advocate Working w/victims with disabilitiesGeneral crime/Impact on victimizationTeen victimization (dating/SV)Responding to victims of hate/bias crimesAdd

10、iction (Opiates, Heroin) Best practices in advocacy while working w/the mentally illWhen protectors offendCo-Responder Model Community supported organizational capacityHomelessness and Victimization Technological forensicsUse of technology to serve victimsHow to applySubmit your completed presentati

11、on proposal by January 22, 2020. Email submissions are preferred. Incomplete and late applications will not be accepted. Selection processWorkshop applications will be reviewed by the Training Advisory Committee, and applicants will be informed in late February 2020 by email if they have been select

12、ed to present at the conference. Compensation and presentation guidelines Honorarium: Minnesota OJP provides a $250 honorarium per presenter and asks that the number of presenters be limited to two, with the exception of panel discussions. One presenter should be identified as the “lead” for communi

13、cating with the conference director. Registration fee: The conference registration fee for all workshop presenters, excluding panel discussions, is waived. Lodging and meals: Presenters make all of their own arrangements. The conference director will provide a code for the registration fee. Lodging,

14、 meals and travel are arranged by the presenter. A request for reimbursement must be presented for compensation after the conference has concluded. Signed agreement: All conference presenters seeking honoraria are required to sign an annual plan with OJP. Reimbursement requests are to be submitted t

15、o the conference director. OJP provides no compensation in advance of the conference. Scholarship: Conference presenters are eligible to apply for a conference scholarship for financial assistance, if needed. Scholarship information will be posted on the OJP website in March 2020. Printing: OJP does not print handouts and presentation materials, and does not reimburse presenters for their photocopying costs. Communicating: All communication related to conference arrangements and preparation will be done via email. Presenters must provide an email address t
