11、ng and recruitment. Oral fluency is also regarded as one of the essential requirements of the ability for foreign language communication. There are a majority of factors that influence oral fluency. In recent years, more and more researchers at home and abroad have come to the common ground that lex

12、ical chunks play a positive role in language acquisition and oral production. Based on lexical chunks, the author carries on an empirical research on the correlation between lexical chunks and oral fluency of college non-English majors. A follow-up survey is conducted in the present study. The resea

13、rcher collects 120 samples of impromptu topics twice from the sophomores of Shandong University of Political Science and Law, and the sampling period lasts a semester to investigate the correlation between the use of lexical chunks and the development of oral English fluency. Data collected in the s

14、urvey tries to answer the following three questions. (1) Are there any differences of oral fluency indexes between two tests? Is there remarkable improvement on oral fluency? (2) Is there any noteworthy development on the number, diversity, average length and frequency of lexical chunks? (3) Is ther

15、e any correlation between the application of lexical chunks and oral fluency? The author adopts a longitudinal method to incorporate lexical chunks into second language oral fluency. First, apply Cool Edit 2.1 to analyze the differences of eight indexes of oral fluency in the pretest and posttest. S

16、econd, count out the number of the lexical chunks in each sample, and calculate their average length, diversity and variety. Third, a series of independent sample t-tests and paired sample t-tests are used to analyze oral fluency indexes and the use of lexical chunks of the two tests by the help of SPSS17.0. Next, employ Multiple Regression method which analyze
