1、安徽大学 硕士学位论文 英汉经济新闻中模糊限制语的对比研究 姓名：范娟 申请学位级别：硕士 专业：外国语语言学及应用语言学 指导教师：胡健 2010-05 v 摘摘 要要 语言具有模糊性，模糊限制语的大量使用是语言模糊性的一个重要表现形 式，它普遍存在于各种语言之中，并且在交际中发挥着非常重要的作用。模糊限 制语作为模糊语言研究的一个领域， 最早由美国语言学家拉科夫在 1972 年提出。 之后，一些学者如 Fraser，Brown 和 Levinson，Leech，H bler ，Rosch，Myers 等都从不同角度对模糊限制语进行了分析研究。在国内，对模糊限制语的研究始 于七十年代末，北京
2、师范大学的伍铁平教授把模糊语言介绍到中国。事实上，在 语言中有许许多多的词语、词组和句型可以被认为是模糊限制语，它们有着丰富 的语义特征和语用功能，是不可忽略和替代的。在很长的一段时间里，学者们对 模糊限制语的研究仅停留在语义学和句法学层面上。但是，随着语用学和语篇分 析法的发展，越来越多的学者开始从语用层面对模糊限制语进行研究。许多语言 学家开始从不同角度对模糊限制语进行了大量研究，虽然成果颇丰，但在很多方 面却未达成一致，并且，对于特殊文体中模糊限制语现象的研究相对较少。 作为大众传媒的新闻，在人们的日常生活中具有举足轻重的作用，也因此成 为近年来研究的热点。但对于经济新闻中出现的模糊限制
3、语现象的研究较少，有 关英汉经济新闻中模糊限制语的对比研究则更不多见。因此，本文在前人研究的 基础上，依照 G. Lakoff 对模糊限制语的定义，按照 Prince et al.等人对模糊限制 语的分类标准，在 Verschuern 的顺应论的框架下，对英汉经济新闻中使用的模糊 限制语进行了对比研究， 以探讨两者使用的模糊限制语在类别及各类别的分布上 的异同之处，以揭示英汉经济新闻中使用模糊限制语的特点，并解释了英汉经济 新闻中出现模糊限制语的原因， 总结了英汉经济新闻中模糊限制语的常见语用功 能，期望能对阅读和写作英汉经济新闻有所启发。基于此研究目的，本文围绕以 下三个研究问题展开： (1
4、) 英汉经济新闻中各类模糊限制语使用的频率和分布 情况有何异同？(2) 如何用顺应论来解释英汉经济新闻中出现的模糊限制语？(3) 英汉经济新闻中的模糊限制语的语用功能有哪些？ 为了探讨以上的研究问题，笔者自建了两个小型的平行语料库，语料分别来 自英国和中国两大很有影响力的经济新闻网站，英国著名财经日报金融时报 （ ）和中国二十一世纪经济报道 （ ） 。 vi 自建平行语料库的语料是分别在这两个网站上通过搜索关键词 “oil price” 和 “石 油价格”而获得。语料库中包含英汉经济新闻各三十篇，其中英文语料库的总字 数约为 18801，中文语料库的总字数约为 19141。依照 Lakoff
5、对模糊限制语的定 义及 Prince et al. 等人对模糊限制语的分类，笔者通过阅读平行语料库，分别从 中识别四种不同类型的模糊限制语。在 Word 文档的搜索功能的协助下，结合语 料的语境，笔者分析并指出了模糊限制语在语料中的位置，并计算出四种模糊限 制语分别在平行语料库中出现的数目及频率。在这些统计数字的基础上，笔者对 这两个自建语料库进行定量、定性及描述性分析，以找到英汉两类经济新闻中的 模糊限制语使用的异同之处。按照 Prince et al.对模糊限制语的分类，在英汉经济 新闻中四种模糊限制语都会频繁出现。然而，英汉经济新闻对于四种模糊限制语 的偏好有所不同。 英语经济新闻中使用
6、最多的是间接缓和语， 其次是数量变动语， 再次是程度变动语，最后是直接缓和语；汉语经济新闻中使用最多的是程度变动 语，其次是数量变动语，再次是直接缓和语，最后是直接缓和语。很明显，英语 经济新闻最多使用间接缓和语，可以指明新闻的来源，使新闻报道更加客观。接 下来，本文从语用学角度，以 Verschueren 的语言顺应论为理论框架，分析并解 释了英汉经济新闻中存在模糊限制语的原因，及在经济新闻报道中，模糊限制语 的使用是顺应物理世界和心理世界的结果。其中，对物理世界的顺应包括顺应新 闻写作要求的准确性、客观性和时效性；对心理世界的顺应则包括对新闻记者及 新闻读者两方面心理世界的顺应。在这些顺应
7、过程中，模糊限制语发挥了有效的 语用功能，包括保守秘密，提高可信度，节约时间和增强语言的灵活性。 关键词：关键词：模糊限制语；对比研究；经济新闻；顺应论 ii Abstract Language possesses the property of vagueness, one of the presentations of which is the use of hedges. Hedges are common in every language and play an important part in both spoken and written communications. As
8、a research area in the study of vague language，hedging in discourse was first put forward by G. Lakoff in1972. Afterwards, other scholars, such as Fraser，Brown adaptors, rounders, attribution shields and plausibility shields for CEN. Obviously, attribution shields are the priority choice for EEN and
9、 adaptors for CEN, which indicate that English economic news focus more attention on the source of news than Chinese economic news. Subsequently, under Verschuerens Linguistic Adaptation Theory, the author interprets the existence of hedges in EEN and CEN, which is the result of adaptation to both t
10、he physical world iv and the mental world. Adaptation to the physical world includes adaptation to accuracy, objectivity and timeliness which are the fundamental requirements of news reporting. Adaptation to the mental world contains the adaptation to journalists mental world and readers mental worl

In this dynamic adaptation process, hedges apply effectively pragmatic function in communication, including keeping secrets, enhancing reliability and appropriateness, saving time, and heightening flexibility.
