TodayinChina,withtherisingofourlivingstandard,peoplesrequirementofbeautyhasbeenheIghtenedac
2、cordingly.Somepeoplesparenomoneyorenergyonbeautifulclothes,fashionablehairstyles,thedecorationoftheirhousesandeventheimprovementoftheirlooks.Butitseemstome,all thesearemoreorlessconfinedtothebeautyinappearance,orrather,theoutwardbeauty. Inmyopinion,weshouldntonlypayattentiontobeautifulappearanceandn
3、eglectthebeautificationofthemindandwhatweareaftershouldbetheperfectunityoftheoutwardbeautyandtheinnerbeauty.Asweallknow,sofarasobjectsandanimalsareconcerned,thereisonlybeautifulappearancetobementioned,buttoushumanbeings,althoughtheoutwardbeautyreallymatters,theinnerbeautyismuchmoreimportant.Thiswasc
4、onfirmedbyafamousRussianwriterinwordsmuchlikethis:Apersonis notlovelyforbeingbeautifulbutbeautifulforbeinglovely. Here,IdliketoquotetwotypicalinstancesandImsure,mydearfriends,fromthemyoullfindoutwhatrealbeautyis. RecentlyIlearnedfromtheradioanunpleasantincidentaboutawellknownsinger.Sheisverycharming
5、withasweetbeautifulvoiceandveryfamousforsingingthesong.DevotionofLove.Notlongago,shewasinvitedtoZhejiangProvincetogiveperformance.Themomentshewastoappearonthestage,shesuddenlyaskedformorereward.Worsestill,afterherrequestwassatisfied,shedidntbegintosingatonce.Instead,shetookhertimetocountallthemoneyp
6、iecebypiece.Thusshekepttheaudiencewaitingforhalfanhour.SowhensheatlastshowedupandstartedtosingDevotionofLove,amanroseupfromhisseatandshoutedather,Youdonthaveanydevotionoflove.YouarenotqualifiedtosingthissongHearingthis,thesingerstoppedsingingandbegantoshoutabuseswithherfingerpointedattheman.Atthisti
7、methewholeaudienceburstintoanuproar. HowdisappointedherkeenlistenerswerewhentheylearnedthisItisthesingerherselfwhospoiledherbeautifulimageintheeyesofothers. Now,Imingtoanothertruestory.Itsaboutapoor,ordinarylookingoldwoman.Shewasawidowwithoutanychildren,livingbarelyfromhandtomouthbypickingoddsandend
8、sfromrubbishheaps.However,shetookinmorethantenhomelessorphanssuccessivelyandmanagedtobringthemup.Everydayshelaboredfrommorningtillnight.Inordertoearnasmuchmoneyaspossibletoraisethechildrenandtokeeptheminschool,sheevenwenttoahospitalregularlytosellherblood.Shegotsoweakforthelossofbloodthatshesometime

ImgratefulthatIvebeengiventhisopportunity,atsuchahistoricmoment,tostandhereasaspokesmanofmygenerationandtotakeaseriouslookbackatthepast15years,acrucialperiodforeveryoneofusandforthisnationaswell. Thoughitiso
11、nlywithinmypowertotellaboutmypersonalexperience,andonlyatinyfragmentofitatthat,itstillrepresents,Ibelieve,therootofaspiritwhichhasbeenessentialtomeandtoallthepeoplebredbythepast15years. Inmyelementaryyears,therewasalittlegirlintheCLASswhoworkedveryhardbutsomehowcouldneverdosatisfactorilyinherlessons
12、. Theteacheraskedmetohelpher,anditwasobviousthatsheexpectedalotfromme.butasayoungboy,restless,thoughtless,Ialwaystriedtoevadehersoastogetmoretimetoenjoymyself. Onedaybeforethefinalexam,shecameuptomeandsaid,Couldyoupleaseexplainthistome?Iwantverymuchtodobetterthistime.Istartedexplaining,andfinishedin
13、ahurry.Pretendingnottonoticeherstillconfusedeyes,Iranoffquickly.Natsurprisingly,sheagaindidverybadlyintheexam.Andtwomonthslater,atthebeginningofthenewsemester,wordcameofherdeathofbloodcancer.NooneeverknewaboutthelittletaskIfailedtofulfill,butIcouldntforgivemyself.Isimplycouldntforgethereyes,whichsee
14、mtobeasking,Whydidntyoudoalittlemoretohelpme,whenitwassoeasyforyou?Whydidntyouunderstandalittlebetterthetrustplacedinyou,sothatIwouldnothavetoleavethisworldinsuchpainandregret? Iwasabouteightornineyearsoldatthattime,butinawayitwastheverystartingpointofmylife,forIbegantounderstandthewordresponsibilit
15、yandtolearntoalwaysdomydutiesfaithfullyanddevotedly,fortheimplicationsofthatsacredwordhasdawnedonme:themutualneedandtrustofpeople,thecooperationandinterreliancewhicharetheveryfoundationofhumansociety. Laterinmylife,Icontinuedtoexperiencemanyfailures.ButneveragaindidIfeelthatregretwhichstruckmeatthed
16、eathofthegirl,foritmakesmyheartsatisfiedtothinkthatIhavealwaysdoneeverythinginmypowertofulfillmyresponsibilitiesasbestIcan. AsIgrewup,changedandimprovedbythisincidentandmanyothersimilarones,Ibegantoperceivethechangestakingplacearoundmeandtofindthatsociety,inaway,wasinitsformativeyearslikemyself.Newbuildings,newmoditiesand
